Happy World Book Day, everyone! In the middle of preparing for my very last exam, I decided to accept the challenge hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Well, the challenge is called Top Ten Tuesday. But since I am not sure I have that long list of favorite authors, I'm gonna mention less than 10. Let's see who I come up with.
J.K. Rowling
I thank God you finally become one! :) I can't imagine my life without Harry Potter. I still remember the days where I laid on my bed all days after school just to finish all Harry Potter books. Reading her works feels magical somehow. When she published The Casual Vacancy, I fall in love too. But in different kind of love. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to read The Cuckoo's Calling. One thing I'm sure, I'm looking forward for Harry Potter spin off tv series.
Well, to be honest, I have read only one of his work, The Last Song. And I haven't written the review. Soon, I hope! I know his stories are cliche, just like any drama story. But somehow, he introduces us to the characters in a deep way. It's easy to feel what the characters are feeling. It's easy to drown to the story. Since I have The Last Song in mass paperback version, I'm hoping to find the others in the same version. So they will look nice on my bookcase lol.
Gayle Forman
Okayyyyy.... I wasn't sure to put her on my list. Butttt... I recently read her works and I was like oh-I-wish-I-didn't-read-it. Her stories are not my cup of tea, but somehow I enjoy reading them. It was started with If I Stay and Where She Went. Now I'm reading Just One Year 'cause Just One Day was driving me crazy. I do hope that one day Gayle would write something heavy, meaningful, and thoughtful. For me, reading her works is like reading teen literature in Indonesia. #imjustsayin'
Agatha Christie
This author is definitely all time favorite. I grow up with her books. My mom is the one who introduced me to Poirot for the first time. I still remember when I was in elementary school, I always had one Agatha Christie's book in my bag. That is why I have mixed collection. I hate Gramedia for releasing new version every year.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
One day when I have a boy, I'll name him Arthur or Conan. I don't know :)) Not that different with Agatha Christie, I grow up with his works. My mom has the old series. The paper of course has turned yellow. I'm really sad that there is no new story for Sherlock Holmes. I have read all stories like more than ten times. So I'm craving for a new one! I'm also obsessed with the tv series by BBC. You should watch it too!
